DSW Volunteers Gives DFP a Helping Hand

On Feb. 8, 2012, members of the DSW management team from all over New England were on-site to lend the DFP a helping hand by stocking shelves & sanitizing the refrigeration equipments.  According to Kathleen Stapleton the DSW District Manager of New England, “At DSW, we are Shoe Lovers that care.  It was our pleasure to lend a hand.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Yard House Dedham Presents $7,000 check to the DFP

‘NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS’

On February 8, 2012, Yard House on behalf of their guests presented over $320,000 to twenty-five charities across the country from monies raised through Round It Up America.  The Dedham Food Pantry was presented a $7,000 check by the Yard House Dedham location Manager Stephani Dazzo (far left on picture).

The Dedham Food Pantry appreciates Yard House‘s donation to the Dedham community which will go far to feed the hungry.

DFP Needs Student Writer Volunteers

High school seniors or college students with strong writing skills are needed to write profiles for website, newsletter and Facebook.

The Dedham Food Pantry would like to share the news about the unique, generous, and committed individuals and groups who fulfill our motto of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

Writers are needed to photograph and interview volunteers about their roles with the pantry. Features will be 300 to 500 words and will be edited by board members.

Community service hours will be applied.

Pantry receives $1,000 (Boston Globe 1/22/2012 Article)

The Dedham Food Pantry recently received $1,000 from the Foundation for MetroWest as part of a $55,000 donation given to food pantries throughout the region. According to a news release, donors hope the grant will help pantries offset increased costs due to tough economic times. “We are proud that we have been able to support the Dedham Food Pantry as they work to fulfill the growing number of requests by families to help put a balanced meal on their tables,’’ Judith Salerno, executive director of MetroWest, said in a statement. - Natalie Feulner

We Need Your Help!

The Dedham Food Pantry has experienced a significant increase in the cost of food and the number of clients. However, the pantry does not receive any funds from the state or town. It depends entirely on donations.

We are extremely appreciative of all donations, no matter how big or small!

How to donate:

1) Call 781-326-2107 to pledge a donation during the telethon

2) Come to the telethon to make a live, on-air donation

November 2011 Volunteers Needed Now!

  • 2011 Harvest Telethon- Volunteers are needed to assist with this event.  The initial meeting will be held on Thursday November 11, 2011 at 7pm at the Endicott Estate in Dedham.  Click here to learn more.
  • Showcase Cinema Fundraiser from 11/19-12/17/2011- Volunteers needed to pick-up donations on Saturday mornings at the Showcase Cinema on Legacy Place.

November DFP Meeting

The November 2011 DFP meeting will be held at the Endicott Estate on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. Please note that this is a change of location from the previous DFP meeting locations.

Volunteers Needed for Showcase Cinema Fundraiser Running from 11/19-12/17/11

Once again Showcase Cinema at Legacy Place is showing Holiday Classic Movies free of charge to movie- goers who bring an item to donate to the pantry.

We need a volunteer to decorate and gift wrap a large box to serve as a collection spot for the event.

We also need volunteers to pick up donations every Saturday morning from 11/19 thru 12/17.

Immediate Volunteers Needed for Food Shoppers!

The DFP is in great need of volunteers who can drive to either the Greater Boston Food Bank in Boston or Price Rite in Hyde Park on a quarterly basis to pick up food orders. Price Rite orders can be picked up anytime between Monday – Saturday from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.

The Greater Boston Food Bank orders can be picked up between Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 3pm. The amount of time to complete the pickup and delivery to the pantry is usually 1 to 1.5 hours.

Pantry volunteers will be onsite at the pantry to help off-load the order. Volunteers should be able to lift 20 lbs. and have a large vehicle (i.e. full size SUV, van or pickup truck). Please contact Cindy at cindyb@uwinc.com or 781-467-8605 for more information.

Whole Foods 5% Day on October 6th to benefit the Dedham Food Pantry

The Whole Foods at Legacy Place will donate 5% of the totals sales to the Dedham Food Pantry. This is an example of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” and can result in thousands of dollars from customers shopping for their food and beverages on this day!
The Pantry is a “grass roots’ organization which is  made up of 100% volunteers and provides food assistance to over 200 families in the town of Dedham.The Pantry volunteers will be staffing a table all day  so customers can learn more how the Pantry operates and  hopefully recruit future volunteers.  A special “Thank You” goes to Lauren Klatsky of Whole foods who chose our 501(c)3 non-profit to be the recipient of this fundraiser on the 21 st anniversary of our organizations founding on October 6, 1990.
